At Fauji Cement Company Limited (FCCL), sustainability is at the heart of our operations. We are committed to environmental protection, social responsibility, and governance excellence, ensuring that our business practices align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our comprehensive approach to sustainability encompasses energy efficiency, decarbonization, biodiversity conservation, community support, and responsible governance.
Environmental Responsibility
Climate Action & Emissions Reduction
FCCL is taking all the possible mitigation measures to reduce CO2 emissions throughout value-chain activities. Our sectoral decarbonization approach is aligned with best global practices and FCCL decarbonization levers includes but not limited to the consumption of alternative fuels to reduce fossil fuels consumption, consumption of supplementary cementitious materials to produce low carbon products, improving renewable energy share by extended solar parks, planting trees (afforestation) and developing orchards to improving carbon sequestration and conservation etc. These efforts avoided significant portion of carbon emissions (534,364 tCO2e) during FY 2023-24 and we are committed to strengthening our sustainable manufacturing practices.
Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency
The FCCL installed 68 MWp Solar Parks and 65 MW Waste Heat Recovery Plants at Jhang Bahtar, Nizampur, Wah and Dera Ghazi Khan locations to generate and consume clean energy. FCCL has improved its energy mix (Renewable 50%) by demonstrating a decrease in purchased energy and an increase in self-generation from renewable sources (Solar Parks and Waste Heat Recovery Plants).
Water Conservation & Clean Water Access
We have implemented zero groundwater extraction policies for industrial use, invested in rainwater harvesting, and set up wastewater recycling systems. Additionally, we provide RO water filtration plants in water-scarce areas, ensuring clean drinking water for local communities.
Biodiversity & Green Initiatives
FCCL actively contributes to afforestation and biodiversity conservation through tree plantation drives, quarry rehabilitation, and agroforestry projects. In FY 2023-24, over 10,000 trees were planted, helping to sequester 7,800 CO₂ tons annually.
Social Responsibility
Health & Well-Being
We provide free medical facilities at our plants, serving over 10,000 individuals annually through dispensaries, emergency care, and health camps. Our healthcare programs combat malnutrition, preventable diseases, and maternal health challenges in local communities.
Quality Education & Skills Development
FCCL is dedicated to educational empowerment by establishing solar-powered schools, providing scholarships, and funding teacher salaries. We also support technical training through the Fauji Technical Training Institute and Apprenticeship Program, fostering skilled labor for sustainable employment.
Poverty Alleviation & Community Support
FCCL’s initiatives include:
- Ramadan relief packages for underprivileged families
- Employment opportunities for local residents
- Micro-business support programs for community entrepreneurship

Compliance & Governance Standards
FCCL adheres to local and international regulatory frameworks, ensuring ethical business practices, workplace safety, and stakeholder engagement. Our ESG Committee oversees sustainability strategies and ensures compliance with IFC/World Bank environmental standards.
Health, Safety, & Workplace Security
With a strong commitment to safety, we achieved 31 million+ work hours without Lost Time Injury (LTI) in 2023. Our HSE initiatives aim to create a secure and healthy workplace for all employees.
