FCCL considers health and safety as core value and a top priority. It is committed to provide healthy and safe working conditions to its stakeholders. FCCL complies with all applicable regulations and has implemented international standards of industry in order to reduce the number of incidents and to continuously improve health and safety culture in its daily operation/activities. Everyone at FCCL has a role to play with respect to Health and Safety. To enhance efficiency and improving the awareness of Plant employees, extensive training programs are being executed as per laid down timelines. The Plant is well equipped with Fire Safety System, which includes fire hydrants, two fire tenders and a team of well-trained fire fighters who are capable and ready to deal with any fire emergency within the Plant and surroundings. FCCL has adopted zero tolerance when it comes to Health and Safety.

Plant has also implemented strict measures and SOPs to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which proved very effective in controlling the pandemic.

Environmental Sustainability

“Environmental sustainability is embedded in Fauji Cement’s long term commitment and its strategies are focused on improving environmental and social values. Accordingly, FCCL took a number of initiatives in the realm of environmental sustainability and has actually set a benchmark in Pakistan’s Cement Industry. This commitment can be evidently seen in its initiative of installing Pakistan’s largest captive solar plant. In addition, it has taken numerous other initiatives to reduce the carbon foot print and contribute towards environment sustainability. A brief review of these measures is covered in ensuing paragraphs.”

RENEWEBLE ENERGY – 15 MW Solar Power Plant
Pakistan has been facing power crisis for the past many years and in peak demand season the demand of power surpasses the supply, forcing the distribution companies to start load shedding on domestic as well as industrial consumers and on many occasions the industry also faces forced power cuts. Moreover, the cost of power in the country has also increased over the years. To offset these disadvantages, the management of FCCL decided to increase its existing captive power generation capacity. Thermal Power Plant using fossil fuels are the biggest sources of CO2, whereas there is no emission of CO2 from Solar power plant. The annual generation from FCCL 15 MW solar power plant will be 22,622 MWh and will give an annual saving of 16,000 tons of CO2.

GREEN ENERGY – 21 MW Waste Heat Recovery Power Plant
Cement manufacturing is an energy intensive process and a large amount of heat energy is wasted by releasing hot gases to atmosphere. In order to utilize these waste gases and heat energy, Fauji Cement installed two Waste Heat Recovery Power Plants (WHRPP) of 9 & 12 MW each at both Pyro lines. Power generated by WHRPP is called green energy as it does not emit CO2 compared to power generated by fossil fuels.
This initiative of FCCL not only reduces the carbon foot print but also reduces the burden on national grid and in turn gives a good amount of saving also. Annual reduction of CO2 emissions due to WHRPP is approximately 50,000 tons.
